Restaurant Magazine selects the world’s best restaurants and chefs
New York’s “Eleven Madison Park”, run by Swiss chef Daniel Humm, is currently the best restaurant in the world – at least that’s the opinion of Restaurant Magazine in its recently published list for 2017. Last year’s winner – Massimo Bottura’s “Osteria Francescana” in Modena – came second, followed by the Roca brothers with their “El Celler de Can Roca” in Girona, which secured second place last year.
The British industry magazine felt that “Eleven Madison Park” made an art out of combining exquisite food and exceptional professional skills. Daniel Humm and co-owner Will Guidara have literally broken down the walls between their guests and the kitchen. They create an inimitable harmonious and culinary customer experience from start to finish.
The world’s ten best restaurants
This year, the ten best restaurants on the planet include “Mirazur” from France, “Central” and “Maido” from Peru, Spain’s “Asador Etxebarri” and “Mugaritz”, the Thai establishment “Gaggan” and the Austrian “Steirereck”. One Dutch, one Belgian, one Danish and two German restaurants also appear in the top 50. Restaurant Magazine began publishing its annual list 15 years ago. A jury of chefs, specialist authors and experts from all over the world selects the best restaurants and decides on their order.
“World’s Best Female Chef
During the award ceremony, which was held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on 5 April 2017, Ana Roš was also named the “World’s Best Female Chef”. At her Slovenian restaurant “Hiša Franko”, this self-taught chef conjures up dishes which combine traditional ingredients with modern freshness.
